balance for well being

Hello there fine people of blogland! So much has been happening around here this summer and I’m finding it hard to remember just how it all started. And I’m sure you’re dying to hear the whole thing from start to finish. Grin. I guess it was with an Iphone app, My Fitness Pal. Some of honey’s coworkers introduced him to this calorie-counting, nutrition-tracking app, and we both became obsessed with tracking our daily caloric intake. I quickly realized that I […]

Cottage Fix rustic baskets and summer whites

Salutations! We’re in the midst of a serious heat wave here on the east coast; I’m certain you could fry an egg on the blacktop in the afternoons. The air is thick and alive with the sounds of cicadas. I’m ever so happy to get through with my morning walk and retire to the air conditioning for the remainder of these hot, muggy days. I’m having a good ole time rearranging, shuffling mirrors around, and catching up on the massive […]

to the beach!

Hola Cottage Fix friends! Well, summer is truck truckin’ along and here on the east coast we’re soaking it in. We’re taking advantage of our local beaches more than ever this year, heading out with picnics on the weekends.  And we just got home from a super fun road trip to the Outer Banks. I recently got the opportunity to try out a new beach towel from Aurorae. A nice beach towel really does make all the difference when trekking in […]

sea breezes and sunshine in Corolla

Hello there Cottage Fix friends! It was so nice to get away for a long weekend of sea breezes and sunshine, free from schedules. The water was a gorgeous aqua blue and full of marine life when we arrived in Corolla, North Carolina on Friday. We saw hundreds of fish flapping and popping up from the shore and pod after pod of dolphins swimming and leaping by. Apparently someone down the beach from us spotted a “shark”, but Mr. Manley […]

shabby chic reading corner

Hola! All is well here on the home front. Yesterday I was feeling like a bit of a shuffle-around. It’s been in the back of my brain for a while now and I couldn’t put it off much longer. So I coerced my strong teenage son to help move things around, having teenagers isn’t all bad. Grin. The daybed and end table from our guest room created a cozy little reading corner on our sun porch. I love cozy little […]

limeade margarita recipe

Salutations! Around here, the summer season is also known as margarita season. As the weather starts to warm, Honey starts asking “wanna make margaritas?” A cold margarita on a hot, steamy summer afternoon has the power to make all things right in the world–a golden glass of magic! Grin. One of my favorite parts about making margaritas is Honey likes to be in charge of the whole production, from the liquor store to the blender. This recipe has a limeade […]

Cottage Fix summer garden and white blooms

Well hello there Cottage Fix friends! All is good here, things are moving right along. I’m feeling much better after flopping on the sofa for all of last week—that summer cold took me down. I was beginning to wonder if I’d ever wear anything other than pajama bottoms and a raggedy old T-shirt again. While I’m not feeling in tip top shape, I’m definitely feeling more like my old self again (which certainly wasn’t anywhere close to being in tip […]

happy summer

Last week was crazy, the end of the school year always is. It’s crazy busy, but fun too. My kiddos finished up their last day on Monday. My son is a rising Junior in high school and my daughter graduated from the eighth grade, there was a ceremony and all. It was quite a big ta-doo, I don’t remember them making such a big fuss out of graduating from middle school back in the day. Well anyways it was nice. […]
