Cottage Fix Friday flowers from the garden

Happy Friday Cottage Fix friends! Our garden is growing wild this year, or as I like to say; the green machine is kickin’! The hydrangea are especially thriving now that the shade tree we cut back is starting to fill in and provide a bit of canopy from the afternoon sun. We’ve also been getting bucket loads of rain resulting in an abundance of lush green. Unfortunately, the weeds also seem to be enjoying all this rain. But they’re not […]

Aubusson blue painted hutch

Salutations! How about this lovely shade of Aubusson blue, one of my favorite shades of blue I think. It’s a deep rich blue with just a hint of green. I went back and forth about painting this old vintage hutch of mine. But after I finished dousing the dining room walls in this soft taupe, I thought a shot of color would liven it up. One of my go to furniture painting tricks is to take my Annie Sloan chalk […]

decorating mojo… raspberry floral and taupe

Hola Cottage Fix friends!! Long time no see. Well, it’s about time I got back to it I think. It was a long winter for me with a relentless bout of family illnesses (just one after another) and snow (not a fan!). And then the illnesses trickled right on into Spring with Paisley our sweet Schnauzer pup. I’d like to forecast smooth sailing from here on out—fingers crossed. The past couple of days have been all sunshine, wellness, and good […]

welcoming 2018 with simplicity and color

Happy New Year Cottage Fix crew! After the holiday glitz and dazzle get packed away and carted up the attic stairs our cottage always looks so bare to me. The sparkle of twinkly lights and shine of vintage baubles are missed indeed. But even so, after the holidays I always find myself craving a clean fresh look. And although I haven’t made any new purchases or tackled any DIY projects lately, I have a simple clean look in mind that […]

Happy Birthday Miss Paisley!

We’re celebrating Paisley’s fourth birthday today! Oh yes girl, I see lots of pizza crust in your very near future. She’s becoming harder to photograph as she gets older. She’s more into sinking into the sofa or bed than sitting up pretty and posing. One of our favorite silly traditions is picking out a Christmas sweater for the birthday girl. The kiddos both especially loved this traditional red and white one I found this year. Those eyebrows get me every […]

Christmastime xo

Happy Holidays Cottage Fix Crew! Decorating… check! Everything else holiday/Christmas-y…not so much. Christmas trees started appearing on car tops the day after Thanksgiving which is a sight I love to see. But it also made me feel like I was already falling behind on my elf duties. Well, the cottage is all decked out and I have a shopping list started in my head. And — I saw a recipe on the Chew that looks yummy to take to my parent’s […]

Friday sunflowers and a case of bad luck

Hola Cottage Fix Crew! Not much in the way of foofing going on for me these days in my little section of cyber-land. It’s been a case of bad luck here with one thing after another going wrong for what feels like an eternity now. Cars breaking down, appliances breaking down, and to top it all off, three out of four family members breaking down—what the heck is going on! We’re nursing various sports injuries, and I was stuck on […]

stripping the dining room table

Salutations! For the past year or so I’ve been milling over the idea of purchasing a new natural wood table (when I say new, of course I mean an old rustic beauty that’s new to me). One that has history and would warm up our dining room. One with a natural wood tone and a weathered patina worn proudly like a scar that accompanies a manly man’s tale. Something with a bit of soul and character with the warmth of […]
