elegant shabby chic finds

Happy Weekend! I’m blogging in today to show off a couple of my latest thrift store finds that don’t “say” thrift store to me at all. No, they belong more in the land of elegant shabby chic finds and cottage dreams. It’s a lovely set of ruffled dessert plates and yet another set of floral drapes that I couldn’t pass up. I’m trying to be more selective about what I bring home, but at thrift store prices, it’s always too […]

vintage floral drapes

Hola Cottage Fix friends! I’ve been super busy this week with lots of little projects and clearing out extra furniture and clutter. I was ever so gently informed at the supper table last week that we have too many, too much furniture. Apparently, there has been some toe stubbing happening as the family has not yet learned the places in this ol’ cottage that require the side step shuffle. That is one hazard of shopping thrift and bringing home road […]

Trentwood bowls and heirloom Booths dishes

Happy Saturday! We’re getting so spoiled here on the coast of Virginia with absolutely glorious weather, mild sunny days and clear chilly nights. We broke in the fireplace this past week and managed to get away with not cranking on the heat. I think I cooked up every comfort food recipe I know as soon as the weather turned. Night after night it’s been all chicken pot pie, sausage and three bean chili, and last night roast beef and potatoes. […]

a pink kink…

Salutations! I’m blogging in today under gray skies with a chance of rain in our local forecast for the next six days. It seems our April showers are trickling into May. During long spells of rain like this, I like to line up a day or two of thrift store shopping and sometimes tackle a project on my to-do list. It depends on how motivated I’m feeling. I found a pair of Simply Shabby Chic pink and taupe floral shams […]

cottage fix collecting and garden blooms

Why hello there Cottage Fix friends! Today I’m talking bottle collections and garden blooms. Nothing takes me to my happy place like a garden full of Spring color and the scent of a freshly cut lawn. And bottles and blooms together are pure eye candy I’d say. I started my bottle collection over this past winter, kicking it off with a variety of recycled soda bottles and jam jars. They look so sweet in a grouping on there own or […]

Cottage Fix floppy drop cloth chaircover

Happy Weekend Cottage Fix friends. I’m blogging in today with my latest attempt at sprucing up our family room. Aside from a newish sofa, it’s sort of the land of the leftovers. It’s furnished with two overstuffed mismatched chairs: one from a yard sale and then this one here is a hand me down. I brought home this drop cloth to create a floppy casual chair cover, I’m planning on a second drop cloth for the other chair to tie […]

cottage fix mixes vintage goodies with a dollar store score… say it three times fast!

Hola Cottage Fix friends! I’m blogging in today with a dollar store score that I’m super excited about. All of these pretty dishes you see here on my trunk are vintage finds and also from my grandmothers cupboard except for one. Can you guess?┬áIt’s the charming pink goblets, I just love pink glass. And pink glass from the dollar store, are you kidding! I’ll be going back for two more in case any happen to break. I wish you could […]

pretty vintage finds

Clickety-clack school is back! The good thing about school being back in session is that there’s no one here making messes all day. The bad thing is there’s no one here making messes all day. I must admit I do enjoy the feeling of the house remaining clean for at least a few hours in a row after I tidy up. So I’m doing a little shopping of the vintage sort. I found this pretty vintage oil on canvas and […]
