sea breezes and sunshine in Corolla

Hello there Cottage Fix friends! It was so nice to get away for a long weekend of sea breezes and sunshine, free from schedules. The water was a gorgeous aqua blue and full of marine life when we arrived in Corolla, North Carolina on Friday. We saw hundreds of fish flapping and popping up from the shore and pod after pod of dolphins swimming and leaping by. Apparently someone down the beach from us spotted a “shark”, but Mr. Manley […]

limeade margarita recipe

Salutations! Around here, the summer season is also known as margarita season. As the weather starts to warm, Honey starts asking “wanna make margaritas?” A cold margarita on a hot, steamy summer afternoon has the power to make all things right in the world–a golden glass of magic! Grin. One of my favorite parts about making margaritas is Honey likes to be in charge of the whole production, from the liquor store to the blender. This recipe has a limeade […]

Cottage Fix summer garden and white blooms

Well hello there Cottage Fix friends! All is good here, things are moving right along. I’m feeling much better after flopping on the sofa for all of last week—that summer cold took me down. Cottage Fix honeysuckle and a summery quilt

Good morning Cottage Fix friends! The heat and humidity have landed here on the east coast which is no surprise since we’re already into June. It’s in the mid-eighties today with moderate humidity and it really doesn’t feel that bad. I quite like these kinds of days, especially when the AC is cranked up if you know what I mean. With the humidity often come the rains, not all day, just here and there. So the garden is looking a […]

5 easy ways to add cottage charm to your garden

What’s in a cottage garden? They come in all shapes and all sizes, but share one common thread… loads of that sweet cottage charm. We have beautiful breezy sun filled skies here on the East Coast, and one of my favorite activities when the weather cooperates is long leisurely bike rides through the neighborhood. I like to check out what’s blooming around town and see what’s new. It’s like my Pinterest board of “charming exteriors” come to life. What better […]

the back garden in Summer

Part of what drew us to this cottage style home was her back garden: boxwoods, blackberries, wisteria, and azaleas.  The garden is well established and what it lacks in seasonal color and perennial flowers, it makes up for with a well thought out design and several mature flowering trees.  We added the fencing and iron gate.
