a weekend on Hatteras Island

Salutations!  I’m just back from a lovely little getaway to Buxton NC which is a small town on Hatteras Island in the Outer Banks of North Carolina. I have been spending vacations in the Outer Banks since I was a little girl with my hair in pigtails and floaties on my arms.  I can remember bobbing up and down in the waves with the sun beating down on my face, so much fun!

I am one happy lady!  I have been waiting weeks for these blackberries to ripen.  Now that they are dark and juicy it’s blackberry cobbler time. One of my very favorite things about summer vacation is the long leisurely suppers by the pool or on a picnic table in the woods, wherever we happen to go that year.
