Cottage Fix fall planting and pumpkins

Hola Cottage Fix friends! We have sun, warm bright glorious sun. Yesterday the clouds finally decided to break apart and sunshine filled my day. To celebrate I took Miss Paisley on a field trip to our local garden center for plants and pumpkins. She was a big hit, somewhat of a crazy dog though after four days of stormy weather! I’m sure she gets that from me. I picked out a couple of fairy tale pumpkins and also a large […]

Friday flowers in the garden

Well, we made it – Happy Friday friends! I feel a bit on the lucky side to still have a little something blooming in the back garden. I’d like to add more late summer/early fall bloomers out here, but I’m not so sure what they would be. The perennial garden is always changing; budding, blooming, then dieing back until its time comes again. It’s so exciting to see something new popping up season to season. xoxo Sally

cottage fix Friday Flower Power

Hola Cottage Fix Friends! Yesterday Honey and I celebrated 20 years of marriage bliss, my how time does fly by. It was a cloudy, muggy Virginia sort of day, but we made the most of it. Making the most of things and laughing at one self is the secret to “happily ever after” I’d say. If you ask honey, he’d say communication. He’s probably right. One thing we both learned to do over the years is “just say yes” to […]

the autumn clematis is blooming here…

It’s my favorite time of year here on the east coast as late summer slides into early fall. If you were to ask me my favorite season, I would answer fall without a doubt. But it’s really the changing of summer into fall. When the air begins to cool, the humidity takes a backseat to crisp fresh air, and the windows go up throughout our cottage. The tiny white blooms of the autumn clematis are the first sign that fall […]

Cottage Fix summer garden and white blooms

Well hello there Cottage Fix friends! All is good here, things are moving right along. I’m feeling much better after flopping on the sofa for all of last week—that summer cold took me down. I was beginning to wonder if I’d ever wear anything other than pajama bottoms and a raggedy old T-shirt again. While I’m not feeling in tip top shape, I’m definitely feeling more like my old self again (which certainly wasn’t anywhere close to being in tip […]

happy summer

Last week was crazy, the end of the school year always is. It’s crazy busy, but fun too. My kiddos finished up their last day on Monday. My son is a rising Junior in high school and my daughter graduated from the eighth grade, there was a ceremony and all. It was quite a big ta-doo, I don’t remember them making such a big fuss out of graduating from middle school back in the day. Well anyways it was nice. […]

French farmhouse inspired bouquet

Bonjour Cottage Fix friends! Well last week was an entire week of rain. Oh yes, the rain, rain, rain came down, down, down. The hydrangeas really seemed to enjoy it. Me on the other hand, well I was happy to see the sun finally come back out. I’m not good at staying indoors so there were numerous walks with puddles underfoot and umbrellas overhead. Paisley basically stayed soakin’ wet for a whole week straight, poor little puppy. We went to […]

garden in the mist

Well guys, that on and off rain I mentioned has settled here on the coast and we’re getting all day mist with heavier rain falling at times. It’s really lovely and serene. I enjoy rain in the warmer months, it’s so romantic. The gardens turn lush green, and if it’s hot enough, the steam wafts from the streets. This is what it must be like living in Seattle, I’m craving nothing but café mocha and chai. Paisley and I walked […]
