cottage fix Friday Flower Power

Hola Cottage Fix Friends! Yesterday Honey and I celebrated 20 years of marriage bliss, my how time does fly by. It was a cloudy, muggy Virginia sort of day, but we made the most of it. Making the most of things and laughing at one self is the secret to “happily ever after” I’d say. If you ask honey, he’d say communication. He’s probably right. One thing we both learned to do over the years is “just say yes” to each other.  Life’s too short.Cottage Fix blog - Friday Flower Power, chartreuse blooms We popped open a bottle of champagne for happy hour last night, enjoyed a candlelight supper with the kids (they had soda), and we all had a relaxing evening in. We were hoping to take a romantic getaway, just the two of us, to celebrate, but we had a hard time coordinating our schedules this year. Hopefully it will be postponed to later this fall.Cottage Fix blog - Friday Flower Power, chartreuse blooms on the sun porchSo I’m blogging in today with Friday Flower Power of the greenish yellow variety. In some worlds, I believe they call this chartreuse. It’s a fresh happy color and I’m a little surprised by how much I like it. Chartreuse does not make a regular appearance here on the sun porch, or anywhere in the cottage really. But, ya know, I’m diggin’ it!Cottage Fix blog - Friday Flower Power, bright chartreuse bouquet Cottage Fix blog - Friday Flower Power, chartreuse bouquet on the cottage sun porchSince the weather has cooled off slightly, I’m arranging my bouquets outdoors. It makes a world of difference with clean up and I like being outside in the garden. I’m not sure yet what I’m planting out here for fall this year. Last year I went with cabbages and purple violas. The cabbages looked great until well into the winter, the violas not so much.

Chartreuse is one of my go-to design colors, Sally 😉 Your floral arrangements are really pretty. I have always planned to add ornamental cabbage to my outdoor pots and never get it done. I’m glad to hear it lasts a long time. So glad you enjoyed your anniversary!

Thanks Julie! This bouquet reminds me of the colors you have going on your front porch. It works so well with fall colors. Have a great weekend!

I’m so glad that you had a nice anniversary celebration. The flowers are beautiful! I like chartreuse actually. It looks nice against the white and coordinates with other colors nicely. I love the next to last pic of your outside patio table.

Sally, your photos are absolutely beautiful. Loving the views out your windows, but I think my favorite is the one outside on your patio…very magazine worthy!!
Happy Anniversary…love how you celebrated with the whole family, but also hoping you have a change for a little getaway.
