warm whites, red camellias, and a picnic basket

Hello guys! Happy Weekend! We have camellias blooming in the side garden — they’re somewhere between red and hot pink and very bright. Ya know, I recently painted the walls in here this light whitish-gray and I’m still figuring it out I think. The undertones are gray and it can look a little flat without some warmer colored accessories.

I’m thinking about bringing in more darker colors in here. I was flipping through a Men’s Health magazine this past week. Not something I usually read by the way, but I was waiting for one of the kiddos at the dentist and the magazines were slim pickings. So anyways, I was inspired by this clothing shoot of chunky sweaters and cargo pants. The colors were rich grays, earthy greens, and warm browns. It got me thinking about those sort of rich deep hues and nubby textures in here. It will be a challenge for me though, I always seem to come back to blue.

Now in here at the moment I’ve kept it light and airy with lots of whites and naturals. The accessories make it cheap and easy to play around a bit and change things out here and there. For spring, I brought in the denim pillow shams. I added in the picnic basket and camellias to livin’ it up and add some warmth.

We have some fun plans for tomorrow, and next week is spring break for the kids. This is our second year that the kiddos are too old for an Easter egg hunt and I have to say I do miss it. Maybe I’ll hide some Guinness around the backyard for Mr. Manly. Grin!

I’m a huge fan of blue and white too. I think it’s neat that you got some inspiration from men’s clothing! Clothing and home fashions often do coordinate in stores too. I love your red camilia branches you brought inside. I always forget to clip flowers from outside and bring them in. I should go do that! We are on Spring break next week too.

Your flowers are gorgeous! The pop right out at you from your pretty photos. I’m loving your new additions of the basket and pillows. Makes the room cozy looking.

Love the pops of color you have added to the room. We have daffodils blooming here finally. And the trees are beginning to bud. 🙂 Find the Guinness. A new tradition! Lol
    Have a great week.
