my poor little frozen cottage

Happy Saturday! Is it cold where you are? They’re saying we’re getting ready to thaw out here and I so can’t wait. We awoke yesterday to frigid temps, ice and snow remaining on the neighborhood roadways, and frozen pipes. When the wind blows, the outdoors sorta creaks and crackles. My poor little frozen cottage. Where are you Spring? The kiddos have been off from school all week, that’s one long snow day. There’s been lots of fun sledding and hot […]

a farmhouse bench and market blooms

Hola Cottage Fix friends. I brought home these beautiful blooms from the market today to brighten up this shabby little cottage. I’ve been tidying up from the contractors, actually more like hardcore deep cleaning from two weeks of workboots and drywall dust schlepping up and down our stairwell. It’s exhausting. Quickshine works wonders on beaten up shabby old hardwoods. So to reward myself, pink and purple blooms always do the trick. A lady needs flowers in her life don’t you […]

chippy paint cabinet

I’m afraid I might start sounding like a broken record, but here it goes. I have been recovering from the flu this week, again! The minute I started to get sick, I just couldn’t believe it. I swear I was only completely well from the first bout for roughly one full day before this second round of illness settled in. As much as I was looking forward to winter this year, I’m done. I couldn’t be more over it. Anyways, […]

shabby silvery blue dining table

Salutations! I’m blogging in to all of you fine folks with a dining table makeover, a teensy tinsy bit of Christmas, and a new project that is already in the works. So things are weird here, I’m not quite sure how it happened! I finished all of my painting in the living room and distressing the table in the dining room and I’ve been soaking it all in. I feel so relieved and just a little on top of the […]

a casual cottage sun porch with a vintage rocker

Happy Weekend Cottage Fix Friends! I’m blogging in today with a vintage wicker rocking chair update and some cozy comfort on our sun porch. Do you remember that sweet little rocker I found this past summer at Class and Trash? The one that is incredibly tiny and in need of a seat cushion and a good scrub. I always seem to be bring home things that need to be cleaned — I wonder what that means? So I brought her […]

cottage fix breaks the rules!

Design rules that is, let’s not get too crazy! I’m shaking things up left and right here today at Cottage Fix. Oh joy! Who says that a chair is just for sitting? Not me! So when Modani Modern Furniture posted 5 Design Rules to Break, my first thought was “huh, I wonder what rules I’m breakin’ around here.” I then began to look around our little cottage, with its old wooden floors, shabby furniture, wicker, and lace, for rules that I regularly […]

fall blooms on the sun porch and a bench

Salutations! How about a bouquet of bright pink blooms and an heirloom bench for a shot of shabby vintage style on the sun porch? It’s a rustic pine bench hand-built by my great grandpa Tipton; how funny that here she is all these years later adding a dose of charm to our sun porch for fall. I foofed this vintage beauty with a few shabby chic pillows to soften her up and add a little color. I hope she’s an admirer of […]

the mother-load of treasure

Salutations my treasure hunting friends! How’s things? I’m checking in today with a few shabby vintage goodies from my road trip last week. A couple of my dearest friends and I went on a road trip to Glen Allen, VA to visit an antique shop we’ve been hoping to get to for a while now. Life just gets so busy you know, but we finally made it. Holy cow — we hit the mother-load of treasure, this junk store is […]
