Friday flowers in the garden

Well, we made it – Happy Friday friends! I feel a bit on the lucky side to still have a little something blooming in the back garden. I’d like to add more late summer/early fall bloomers out here, but I’m not so sure what they would be. The perennial garden is always changing; budding, blooming, then dieing back until its time comes again. It’s so exciting to see something new popping up season to season. xoxo Sally

a romantic autumn vignette with recycled goods

To my dismay the buffet in our dining room is often piled up way too high with clutter. You know, it’s the landing spot. The place where the keys, lunchboxes, and mail all love to congregate and join us for supper—so I decided to foof it. Maybe a bit of fluffing and puffing is just what this little spot needs. One thing you may not know about me is that I’m what they call frugal. Personally, I like to think […]

cottage fix Friday Flower Power

Hola Cottage Fix Friends! Yesterday Honey and I celebrated 20 years of marriage bliss, my how time does fly by. It was a cloudy, muggy Virginia sort of day, but we made the most of it. Making the most of things and laughing at one self is the secret to “happily ever after” I’d say. If you ask honey, he’d say communication. He’s probably right. One thing we both learned to do over the years is “just say yes” to […]

cottage fix Friday Flower Power

Happy Friday Cottage Fix friends! Well, it’s been an interesting last week of summer around here that’s for sure. Lots of ups and downs (the downs always suck) all wrapped up into one crazy cottage with one crazy lady distracting herself by foofing and fluffing about. There’s something almost therapeutic about being busy foofing and fluffing this shabby little cottage. Honey laughs as I buzz in and out, move things around, snip flowers from the garden, poof the pillows, and whip […]

the autumn clematis is blooming here…

It’s my favorite time of year here on the east coast as late summer slides into early fall. If you were to ask me my favorite season, I would answer fall without a doubt. But it’s really the changing of summer into fall. When the air begins to cool, the humidity takes a backseat to crisp fresh air, and the windows go up throughout our cottage. The tiny white blooms of the autumn clematis are the first sign that fall […]

cottage fix sunny sunflowers

Hola Cottage Fix friends! We’re heading to the beaches of North Carolina tomorrow for some sand and surf, but mostly sand. It should be fun. We rented a big beach cottage right on the water and all of our family will be there. The East Coast Surf Competition is happening this week in Virginia Beach and it’s supposed to continue next week in the Outer Banks. So hopefully we’ll see lots of dudes and dudettes practicing. These are the bright […]

Cottage Fix fresh blue hydrangeas from the market

Good morning Cottage Fix friends. We have flowers here looking pretty on the window sill in our living room, fresh blue hydrangeas from the market. I’m on a blue kick at the moment, which is really no different from any other time I guess. I went thinking pink and came home with blue. And my daughter sweet talked me into sunflowers for the guest bathroom too. She really had to lay it on thick – wink. I’m such a sucker […]

Cottage Fix summer garden and white blooms

Well hello there Cottage Fix friends! All is good here, things are moving right along. I’m feeling much better after flopping on the sofa for all of last week—that summer cold took me down. I was beginning to wonder if I’d ever wear anything other than pajama bottoms and a raggedy old T-shirt again. While I’m not feeling in tip top shape, I’m definitely feeling more like my old self again (which certainly wasn’t anywhere close to being in tip […]
