simple winter styling at Cottage Fix

What is happening? This is not the kind of winter we’re used to around here, it’s a real winter wonderland out there. Well, Cottage Fix friends I’ve decided to stop all of my whining and complaining and happily succumb to winter’s embrace. Yes, we’re friends now. The cottage is all cozied up with candlelight, warm blankets, and hot tea. Now this is how to enjoy winter. It’s quiet and still outside, really so peaceful. Outside the garden is covered in […]

the JAXX beanbag for serious lounging

Salutations Cottage Fix friends! I’m slowly claiming back the cottage inch by inch and room by room. And with each space I get cleared out, I feel just a bit lighter. The bathroom remodel has been put on hold for a spell due to the longest, coldest winter ever, and I’ve been cleaning out the spaces where we were storing our tools and supplies. We seem to have accumulated several small to largish piles in way too many rooms and […]

my poor little frozen cottage

Happy Saturday! Is it cold where you are? They’re saying we’re getting ready to thaw out here and I so can’t wait. We awoke yesterday to frigid temps, ice and snow remaining on the neighborhood roadways, and frozen pipes. When the wind blows, the outdoors sorta creaks and crackles. My poor little frozen cottage. Where are you Spring? The kiddos have been off from school all week, that’s one long snow day. There’s been lots of fun sledding and hot […]

bathroom progress and painting our second floor radiator, yikes!

Salutations! Mr. Manly and I have had quite the weekend, but we are making major strides in the upstairs bathroom. It snowed all last night into the early morning so I made buttermilk pancakes to help us recover from several days of steady work. Nothing like hot fresh pancakes while the snow is falling outside! They make you feel all cozy inside. Oh where to begin, so much has been going on. Well we painted the walls, they’re a light […]

French inspired vintage mirror

Happy Friday guys! I’m blogging in today with a sweet little French inspired vintage mirror. I’m not entirely sure of it’s history, but to me it looks a little French/Paris apartment like. Of course a super chic mirror must feel right at home in this shabby filled cottage with a lady who spends her mornings blogging in pajamas. That’s chic, right? It’s certainly a mixed bag around here. While cottage and everything cottage will always be my first and number […]

tiles and bling in the upstairs bathroom

So I’m probably supposed to be saving all the progress for a big reveal at the end of our bathroom remodel, but I’m not good at keeping surprises. And we now have tiles gleaming in our upstairs bathroom, white subway on the walls and marble hex on the floor. I can’t stop marching up the stairs to make sure it’s all real. Mr. Manly busted his behind this past weekend working on the trim, electrical, and hanging this crystal chandelier […]

a farmhouse bench and market blooms

Hola Cottage Fix friends. I brought home these beautiful blooms from the market today to brighten up this shabby little cottage. I’ve been tidying up from the contractors, actually more like hardcore deep cleaning from two weeks of workboots and drywall dust schlepping up and down our stairwell. It’s exhausting. Quickshine works wonders on beaten up shabby old hardwoods. So to reward myself, pink and purple blooms always do the trick. A lady needs flowers in her life don’t you […]

held up in the kitchen

Salutations! We’ve got some crazy yo yo weather going here on the East Coast, one day it’s in the 60’s and then it drops down to the 30’s and then back up again. If you live here long enough you come to expect this roller coaster weather pattern. Yes we must keep our sweaters and sandals out year round for times like these. Major progress is happening in our upstairs hallway bathroom, those lucky little kiddos of ours. They are […]
