What is happening? This is not the kind of winter we’re used to around here, it’s a real winter wonderland out there. Well, Cottage Fix friends I’ve decided to stop all of my whining and complaining and happily succumb to winter’s embrace. Yes, we’re friends now. The cottage is all cozied up with candlelight, warm blankets, and hot tea. Now this is how to enjoy winter.
It’s quiet and still outside, really so peaceful. Outside the garden is covered in a blanket of snow, and inside the winter styling is soft and simple.
A cup of tea after a long walk is just what I needed. Even when it’s super cold outside, I eventually must get out for a dose of fresh air. It changes my perspective on the whole day—it’s therapeutic! I’m sippin’ green chai tea all winter long and it hits the spot.
I don’t like things so neat sometimes, and I guess now is one of those times. You know, that casual somebody really lives here and it’s snowing outside kind of look? That’s the one I was going for. Grin. Shimmery blue pillows and my ever present crochet are softening the living room sofa.
A cluster of tea lights in mercury glass candle holders make a simple centerpiece and add some sparkle to our dining room. This is the reflection in the Frenchie mirror that I just added to our dining room.
The snow is so pretty through the sun porch windows and the birds are going crazy. We’re putting out extra bird seed to see them through the frigid cold days. One morning there were hundreds of Robins hanging around the garden, every window had a Robin view. I’ve never seen anything like it.
I also added these starry twinkle lights to the living room. It only takes a single strand to brighten up a room or a shabby old chippy-paint door. They remind me of adding flowers, the finishing touch, but it’s winter and the garden is asleep so starry twinkle lights do the trick.
Winter’s not looking so bad after all!

Your winter home looks so comfy and cozy with the lights, pretty candles, and throws. Love the photo of the reflection in the mirror…beautiful!

Thank you for sharing your pretty wintry scenes, both indoors and out, Sally! I was feeling like the only blogger who is still in the midst of winter! I love all your crochet pieces that you’ve added for accents. I saw the most beautiful crocheted piece while shopping yesterday, and if I had a few hundred dollars laying around, it would be mine. Enjoy your cozy home!
Wonderful post! I agree. That beautiful snow will soon be gone. But we shouldn’t complain. The birds are not!!! My little bird friends are happily chirping outside our windows! Spring is just around the corner!
Your snow photos are so pretty. Right now we are getting another couple inches of snow, good thing too since most of what we had was melting away leaving a sea of brown crispy grass instead. A blanket of fresh white snow makes it look oh so pretty.
It’s quite beautiful indoors and out in this lovely post 🙂
Your home looks so cozy and inviting. That is how I survive winter too, but with the new storm coming today, it does get wearisome. A good weekend for hunkering down ahead. Stay warm.

What beautiful pictures! Those little star shaped lights look so charming draped over that old door. Glad that you’re able to find some tranquility inside. The snow really is pretty to look at when you don’t have to get out in it.
Your home is sooooo gorgeous! A shabby chic paradise:) I live in very hot, very humid Florida and sometimes with we could have some cold weather and a bit of snow!
Are you on Instagram? Would love to follow you there if you are!
Hi Victoria, thanks for the super sweet comment! I’ve been thinking a lot about Florida the past couple weeks. I’m not on Instagram, sorry 🙁 I’m on Twitter, Google plus and Pinterest. I usually post updates to my blog on Google plus. Thanks for the blog love!
