warm whites, camellias from the garden, and a vintage crochet throw

I’m lightening things up for Spring with warm whites, red camellias from the garden, and a vintage crochet throw. The sofa is wearing all neutrals with white and taupe pillows and an ivory crochet throw, apparently she needed a little break from blue. I’ve been noticing more all white rooms on Pinterest and I want in!

vintage treasure hunting for your cottage

sun porch with vintage wicker

Are you looking forward to a bit of vintage treasure hunting this Spring?  I know I am!  I’ve always been intrigued by antique furniture and I’m a sucker for vintage treasures.  I guess my love of vintage finds really took off when we purchased our first home.  My mom would take me out to estate sales bright and early Saturday mornings,  and I couldn’t believe what great pieces we would come home with!

a thrifty find

bench with hand knit ivory throw

Every now and then I run across an estate sale that should have a sign posted at the entrance stating “shop at your own risk!”  The sale where I found this lovely ivory throw was just one of those scrappy, push and pull kind of sales.  It’s like trying to keep your head above water in a storm, surrounded by sharks, and constantly getting toppled by waves.  It’s funny how excited estate sale junkies get over rummaging through another person’s […]

dining room & weathered shutters

After a crazy day, make that a crazy week, sometimes I just like to goof off, shuffle things around, and then shuffle things around again. DIY garden lantern

cottage garden lantern

It was really quite easy to make once my hubby hooked me up with some heavy duty wire cutters. I cut the fencing to the length I wanted the lantern to be, you can see in the first picture […]

DIY row of hooks, cottage fix style

DIY hooks

To say that I have been obsessing over a row of hooks for the front entry would be… lets say on the gentle side. I believe I have gone completely hook mad! I have checked all of my usual shops and searched every other day on etsy and ebay. I did find a couple I really liked, but apparently I have very expensive taste. Which is a little surprising considering my top picks are chippy, weathered, and old. I also […]

cottage roadkill

vintage chicken wire in ivy

Anything sounds cute when you put the word cottage in front of it – roadkill or cottage roadkill.  Hee hee!  I’ll take one cottage roadkill please. So I’m doing a little house hunting with my mom when she yells out “Stop! Back up!”  So I do and behold, we have stumbled upon the most charming little pieces of vintage chicken wire.  Why is it that even the chicken wire was cuter back then? One unexpected bonus to living in an […]
