shabby inspiration

Rachel Ashwell is one of my all time favorite designers. She has influenced the world of decorating with her imperfect romantic style and played such a big part in my love of home decorating and design. From her fluffy, decadent bedding to her chippy paint furniture, her style makes my heart go pitter patter. So it’s no surprise that when I’m thinking of picking a new wall color or changing something out in my home I often look to her blog and books for a dose of shabby inspiration.Cottage Fix blog - shabby inspirationHoney has definitely gotten to know me well over these past 20 years together. And I was so tickled when he announced he had put me on the pre-order list for Rachel’s latest book The World Of Shabby Chic. How sweet was that! Rachel really creates the most beautiful coffee table books, and this lovely book is no exception.

Cottage Fix blog - shabby inspirationShe tells her story about the birth of her Shabby Chic business and reminisces about her childhood and family. Her family is such a huge part of her creative journey and it was fun to read about her memories. And like all of her books, it makes the perfect book to flip through on a lazy summer day.

The section on shabby modern was especially fascinating to me. Modern is the last style that comes to mind when I think of shabby chic, but the photos of her take on modern were some of my favorites in her latest book.

I have my eye on a few things in  Rachel’s new product line; there’s a slipcovered daybed that would make our sun porch awfully cozy. I’ll be saving my pennies!

Oh, I might have to buy that book in the future. I’ve been eyeing it since I heard it was coming out. I have all of her other books. They are so good! I agree, that her daybed would make a great addition to your sun porch. Your home does exude Rachel’s soft style.

What a sweet and intuitive hubby you have, Sally. That looks like a lovely book. I would love to see the pages on combining shabby chic with modern styles…sounds perfect!
