we went down hard

Well Cottage Fix friends, my daughter and I went down and we went down hard. I thought it might be the stress and business of the season, but really I knew it was just a bad case of a winter illness! We both got a big ole dose of that nasty flu bug that is hitting our country hard this season. This will be my second Christmas in a row stuck on the sofa missing out on some of the […]

paint, paint, and more paint

I’m almost done with my colossal painting projects, only two walls left to get done. Last week one of my readers asked me how I get projects done so fast. This cracked me up because to me it seems to take forever. So I was planning on writing a response post on how to knock out a job in record speed. But truth be told come Friday evening after dinner I was so worn out I fell asleep on the […]

silvery blues and more cottage color

Hello there ladies of blogland and fine people of the world wide web. Long time no see! Things are finally getting back to normal here and I have a thousand projects to get finished before Thanksgiving. Yes, me having a thousand projects on my mind is normal around here. I made Thanksgiving my deadline because I like to make our household extra chaotic, and so come December the kiddos and I can decorate for Christmas in a project free cottage […]

colorful vintage quilts to brighten up our weary cottage

Hello there Cottage Fix friends! I’ve been infusing our cottage with color using these lovely vintage quilts to make things happy all around. I’m home here all week with my daughter while she’s recovering from her second ear surgery, which turned out to be more intense and invasive than the surgery she had on her other ear this past summer. She’s a trooper though, she never ceases to amaze me. So I’ve been making lots of mac & cheese and […]

French toile and lace

Salutations! Fall has definitely found its way to the East Coast and it’s feelin’ fine. The air is crisp and cool, the sun is shining, and the bright colors of autumn are covering the trees. It’s like a warm blanket of sunshine on the nearby trail. Ahh… can you tell I really like fall? As much as I hate to be working indoors when all these lovely things are happening outside, I have been slowly chipping away at the family […]

my package has arrived!

Salutations! How’s everyone? I’m feeling… well, pretty great over here! A couple of days ago my package from Mary Alice arrived all done up cute with blue and white string and topped with a couple of vintage keys. Mary Alice is just so sweet, come to think of it all of the decorators, chefs, DIY-ers, and followers of blogland are really some of the nicest people. Can you imagine how wonderful it would be if the real world were more […]

here we go… white paint!

Hola Cottage Fix friends! So I’ve been happily trucking along with my decorating endeavors, and also thinking a lot about white paint.  If you’ve been following along then you know I recently painted our sun porch a soft white and filled it with white wicker and an heirloom bench. I’m totally diggin’ the fresh feel of that room and I guess I’m sort of stuck on bringing more of that feel into the rest of our cottage. You know when […]

fresh market flowers

Salutations! It’s not everyday that I have an excuse to splurge on a bouquet like this, but last weekend this beautiful assortment of fresh market flowers fell into my shopping cart and followed me home! What could I do but take a few photos? Umm…there’s a slight chance I even went a little picture taking crazy! Pink roses on the patio. Tiny daisies in the guest room. To display flowers in a straw bag just add a small jar of […]
