cottage fix Friday Flowers from the garden

Happy Friday Cottage Fix friends! Well, it’s been another one of those weeks with never-ending clouds and rain here on the ol’ coast of VA. And rain is in our forecast for both days this upcoming weekend. Ah man, the weird thing is I’m actually getting used to it. I keep thinking this is what it must be like to live in Seattle, the rain just keeps on coming and the coffee just keeps on brewing. Once I’m settled into a […]

Cottage Fix pots of lavender and Superbena

Hola Cottage Fix friends? I’m so excited to be blogging in under sunshine filled skies and cool crisp air. This past weekend was so lovely here, and the ever fleeting sun finally made a grand appearance. It’s been a while, so Farmer Brown and I worked for a bit out in the back garden. I also potted a couple of lavender plants and a Superbena. Superbena is new to me, it’s a verbena hybrid and this shade is called Royal […]

peonies in the storm

Let me tell you… last night I lie awake to the sound of the rumbling thunder echoing through our bedroom. Rain pounded the roof and lightning lit the night sky with each explosive thunder boom. As I lay there, all I could thing about was my new […]

shabby chic cottage and gardens

Good morning Cottage Fix friends! So I don’t know if you picked up on it or not, but I’m on a bit of a shabby chic kick (obsession) at the moment. There’s something about the soft color palette and feminine details that seem to work like magic in my quirky little cottage with the silly little family inside. And fresh cuttings from the garden brighten up a softer than soft look.I added more shabby chic goodness with a soft purple […]

cottage fix collecting and garden blooms

Why hello there Cottage Fix friends! Today I’m talking bottle collections and garden blooms. Nothing takes me to my happy place like a garden full of Spring color and the scent of a freshly cut lawn. And bottles and blooms together are pure eye candy I’d say. I started my bottle collection over this past winter, kicking it off with a variety of recycled soda bottles and jam jars. They look so sweet in a grouping on there own or […]

Spring Break at Douthat State Park

Hola Cottage Fix friends! This past week was the kiddos’ Spring Break and hubby was lucky enough to get some time off from work too. We planned a few days at Douthat State Park in the Allegheny Mountains in Virginia. The drive up I-64 was glorious with the red bud and dogwood trees both in full bloom. It was in the upper 70’s and we stopped for a picnic of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and chips along the way. We […]

pink roses for one of those Mondays

Good evening Cottage Fix friends. It’s been one of those Mondays that’s for sure! Take an already busy Monday and add a heaping cup of drama and you get my day. I was so out of it by the end of the day I added oil instead of milk to my cornbread recipe. I noticed as I was stirring and things started looking weird. I just gave it another go with a clear head. It’s looking and smelling good now. […]
