Happy Birthday Miss Paisley!

Miss Paisley turns three today! Happy Birthday to my sweet girl! She’s been getting spoiled all week with a miniature schnauzer sized pancake breakfast this past Sunday and extra table scraps all week. What a mess! And she’s looking quite smug in her cozy winter sweater. Here she is last Christmas sporting big brows… Thanks for visiting! xoxo Sally

cottage fix Christmas tree

Well guys, the Cottage Fix Christmas tree has landed. Honey and I picked her out ourselves and she’s quite the looker. I don’t know why, but it seems even when I deck our place out with a couple of little trees here and there throughout this old cottage, it doesn’t feel like Christmas to me until there’s a full size tree standing proud in our living room. The kiddos were double booked this past weekend so Honey and I decided […]

twinkle, sparkle, and vintage baubles xoxo

Happy Holidays! The Christmas cheer is well under way here at Cottage Fix with sparkly lights and vintage baubles in all of our nooks and crannies. It’s always been about the glitze and lights for me, the world lit up with magic and hope. The twinkle and sparkle of the lights seem to fill town after town with joy and the Christmas spirit. When our kiddos were just wee little guys we had a tradition of driving them around late […]

Happy Thanksgiving 2016

Happy Thanksgiving! I’m usually in charge of the pies and corn pudding and this year is no exception. My daughter helped me with the pies this year and she added her artistic touch. She hand cut leaves out of pie crust for the edge of the apple pie with the lattice top. And I made The Pioneer Woman pecan pie recipe. Have a lovely Thanksgiving! xoxo Sally

Cottage Fix something old, something new

Hola Cottage Fix friends! Hope you’re doing well during this busy time of year with all the hustle and bustle. I’m so excited for Thanksgiving and Christmas I can hardly stand it. I mostly keep finding myself fantasizing about the food and drifting into a happy daze; smoked turkey, mashed potatoes and gravy, corn casserole, and a tall glass of wine are a few of the traditional favorites at our family get together. And for some reason I always seem […]

buttermilk pie

Have you heard of buttermilk pie? I never had until only recently, and let me tell you, it’s a secret that needs to be shared! It’s a delicate custard pie that’s both sweet and tangy, and whips up in a jiff. Imagine if a buttermilk pancake was a pie, this would be it. Or if a buttermilk pound cake and a custard pie had a baby, this would be there delicious little baby buttermilk pie.   Ingredients: 1/2 cup butter melted […]

Trentwood bowls and heirloom Booths dishes

Happy Saturday! We’re getting so spoiled here on the coast of Virginia with absolutely glorious weather, mild sunny days and clear chilly nights. We broke in the fireplace this past week and managed to get away with not cranking on the heat. I think I cooked up every comfort food recipe I know as soon as the weather turned. Night after night it’s been all chicken pot pie, sausage and three bean chili, and last night roast beef and potatoes. […]

the pillow shuffle

Happy Friday! I feel like I’m always shuffling throw pillows around in search of that perfect mix and color combination. Are you with me? And just when I think I’m there, I see something online or in a magazine that makes me go ga ga, and the shuffle begins again. This shabby quirky cottage is always looking for a little spruce up of sorts.  So here’s what the living room has going on after my latest run around the house […]
