Cottage Fix Friday flowers from the garden

Happy Friday Cottage Fix friends! Our garden is growing wild this year, or as I like to say; the green machine is kickin’! The hydrangea are especially thriving now that the shade tree we cut back is starting to fill in and provide a bit of canopy from the afternoon sun. We’ve also been getting bucket loads of rain resulting in an abundance of lush green. Unfortunately, the weeds also seem to be enjoying all this rain. But they’re not […]

fresh and simple Autumn mantel under $10

Autumn is my favorite time of year, especially early Autumn in Virginia when the days are bright and crisp and the cottage windows are popped open. It’s when the cool breeze floats in and there’s a pot of chili simmering away on the stove top that it really starts to feel like fall around here. Friday flowers ~ garden blooms in a blue Ball jar

Hola fine people of the world wide webernet! I’m blogging in today with a wild looking bouquet plucked straight from the back garden. I arranged these in my grandma’s old blue Ball jar. This perennial flower is a bright pink daisy–like bloom with an orange center, i’d say the coloring is very similar to the pink cone flower. I always love when these start to appear out back, it means fall is not far off. This patch of late summer […]

summer love

The latest summer view on our sun porch and at the nearby trail. I simplified our sun porch with the addition of three white linen pillows that I borrowed from our living room. I”m digging this clean fresh look on our sun porch doused in sunshine and whites. I scored these classic linen favorites a while back from H&M. xoxo Sally

sun porch mirror, shabby chic styling, and quiet

Salutations! I’ve been having some fun here in my quirky little cottage with the wonky furnishings and shabby decor while this homestead is feeling not quite so full. Honey has been on work travel for what seems like most of the summer, and the long, hot days are feeling even longer. So to keep myself busy in those quiet hours between morning and night, when the supper dishes are still drying, and mother nature has cast her magical sort of […]

garden hydrangeas

Salutations and happy summer! Our summer garden is in full swing and the hydrangeas are blooming a variety of colors this year. From deep purple to classic blue, they are one of my favorite flowers, especially to cut and bring inside. I picked a couple of new blooms in lime green to add to this bouquet too. One was on it’s way to turning purple and the other blue. So I did some investigating about hydrangea color… Can you manipulate […]

cottage fix Friday flowers

Happy Friday Cottage Fix friends! It’s been a long one, and we’re going on day two of a three day rain here. I spent the morning at the gym and the afternoon baking and cleaning. If I don’t keep myself busy during these long spells of dreary weather I’ll sink into a lull until the sunshine returns.  I brought home these peonies and I’m showing them off today for Friday flowers, love those fluffled, ruffled blooms! These are in pinks […]
