Louella euro shams

Good morning Cottage Fix friends! Some of you might remember a post I did this past spring about my more than fabulous day, I still dream about it some nights. I ordered myself a few goodies from the Rachel Ashwell Shabby Chic Couture website. This is sort of a big deal for me since I’m so in love with her merchandise, and even on sale it’s a bit out of my price range. Every now and then it’s a nice treat though. These Louella euro shams were part of my order.Cottage Fix blog - Louella shabby chic euro shamsCottage Fix blog - Louella euro shams and white rosesCottage Fix blog - Louella euro shams and shabby chic beddingI’m just now getting around to using them because when they first arrived I didn’t have the right size pillow inserts. I ordered pillowflex synthetic down 30″ inserts from Amazon and they fill out the shams beautifully. They’re the closest thing I’ve found to the look and feel of real down. These are big pillows! When I chucked them on our bed I wasn’t quite sure what to think, Honey and I just laughed at their sheer largeness. I even googled “what are euro shams used for?” It turns out most people prefer them for decorative use either behind or on top of their regular sleeping pillows. I thought we’d be sleeping on ours, but after trying them out that night it was nearly impossible to get comfy. So I decided they would be primarily for decoration, and also for the rare occasion when we read or play computer in bed. They’re super cozy for that kind of thing, just lounging and piddling in bed. I do love a good weekend piddle. Cottage Fix blog - Louella euro shams

Even with the addition of a quilt the bottom of our bed looks flatter than a pancake now.  I might add a small comforter to the end of our bed to compliment these billowy shams. I always seem to get myself into situations like this, the domino effect!
