Blog It Forward with Wayfair

Salutations! I’m blogging in today with a big chill on the way Cottage Fix friends and it’s beginning to feel a lot like Christmas. There’s something about this time of year that seems to put a magnifying glass on life; things that are happy seem happier and things that are sad much sadder. That’s a line from one of my favorite Christmas movies Mixed Nuts. Well it seems that I have the chance to spread a bit of good in my tiny slice of the world. So here we go…

#blogitforwardI’m happy to participate in the Wayfair December challenge Blog It Forward. My sweet blogger buddy Julie of Renaissance Mermaid invited me to participate and as soon as I received the invitation I knew exactly what I was going to do.

Cottage Fix blog - Christmas kindness

“For the month of December, is challenging bloggers to spread holiday cheer by doing a good deed. Deeds can include any act of kindness, no matter how big or small. For every blog that participates and includes the badge, Wayfair will donate $50 to Habitat for Humanity!” I honestly never shopped at Wayfair, but I’m always happy to support businesses that are doing good things like this. I’ll be sure to give them a little looksie lu.

Cottage Fix blog - Christmas kindnessFor my kind gesture I donated to the fundraising page of a little girl in our area I saw on the morning news. She was badly burned in a fire started while her family was lighting their jack-o’-lantern for Halloween.  I was planning on supporting her family the moment I heard about her story, and this challenge helped me to see it through. Like so many of us, I often have good intentions and then life gets in the way and I forget.

Wayfair Ideas for Giving Back

Here are a few to get you started:

Surprise a stranger by buying them a cup of coffee

Pay the tolls for a car behind you in line

Offer a spare umbrella to someone in a rainstorm

Surprise a neighbor with freshly-baked treats

Bring a donation to a cause you support

Leave a gas gift card at a pump

Surprise a service worker with an extra big tip

Offer to do grocery shopping for an elderly neighbor

Rake your neighbor’s yard or snowblow their driveway when they are at work

Send flowers to the office staff at your child’s school

I would like to invite all of my blogger buddies to participate in the Blog It Forward with Wayfair Challenge.

xoxo Sally

It sounds like a wonderful cause you’re supporting! So true that life can get in the way and make us forget about all the less fortunate out there. Love your tree!!!
