dining chairs, a cottage fix splurge

Well, sometimes no matter how hard you look for comfortable, reasonably priced vintage chairs, you end up having to buy brand spankin new ones instead.  We have been needing new dining chairs since we moved into our cottage. Our new dining room is smaller than the one we had before and the old wicker chairs just didn’t quite fit. In order to make everything feel like it fit, we would keep two in the corners of the room and pull them back and forth at mealtimes.  What a pain!  We wanted the new ones to be just as comfy as the older wicker ones since we eat almost all of our family suppers around our dining room table.

These are from Restoration Hardware and happen to be on sale for a budget friendly price, right now.  Although they are new, they remind me of vintage cane chairs and I think I’ll have fun foofing them up with throw pillows and slipcovers.  The cane seats are surprisingly comfortable and add that real vintage feel!

I love filling the dining table with either flowers or fragrant herbs. There is not a single bloom to be found in our garden this time of year, so I guess lavender and rosemary will have to do.  I’ve heard the more you cut these herbs back the better they grow.  I hope that’s true because I have been hacking at mine quite a bit this winter!

I stocked the buffet with extra silverware and china.  It makes it easier to grab when we are running low or need an extra place setting — no more digging through drawers and hutches!
