Salutations! We’re hunkering down in the AC on this hot and sticky Virginia Summer morning while my daughter recovers from surgery. I have a tendency to be somewhat of a nervous Nellie, especially when it comes to my little chillies. Don’t do this, don’t do that, be careful. Yes, I’ve instilled just enough fear into them to keep them safe, but not enough to dampen their spirits. At least that’s what I like to tell myself. They are teenagers now, but I’m sure I’ll always think of them as my little guys. My daughter had ear surgery this week and she did great, she was so brave. We’ve known she’d be needing it for a couple of years now, and I’ve been dreading it, really dwelling on it. She was amazing!
It’s a week of rest inside for her, and for me too by default. We’ve had lots of family and friends stopping in with flowers and treats and get well wishes. Our little cottage is bursting with roses and love. It’s so nice. My mom cooked us a delicious dinner of grilled chicken, mashed potatoes, fresh string beans, and corn pudding. You would’ve thought we hadn’t eaten in weeks — nothing quite like a homemade meal from mom! After a year of worry it feels good to have the worst of my daughters surgery behind us. If all goes well she’ll be having her other ear done in the Fall and I’m hoping not to be as nervous. I can’t make any promises though, what can I say?
The cottage hasn’t seen much sunshine for a couple of days now. The muggy, dreary overcast weather seems to have sunk it’s heels into our part of town. I’ve been cooking and cleaning while my daughter’s friends have been keeping her company. I’m just about ready for a project or two, luckily I have several to choose from. Grin!

I’m glad that your daughter’s surgery went well. My four children are grown, but I still worry about them!
