cottage fix Friday flowers

Hola Cottage Fix crew! I’m blogging in today under glorious sun filled skies and bright crisp air. The traditional yo yo temperatures we’re accustomed to here near the coast of Virginia are in full swing. Our weather people must stay on their toes that’s for sure. I even heard a mention of flurries in the forecast for later tonight—it was almost 80 degrees this past Wedneday. Oh yes, the floppin hoppers and toboggan worn all in the same week, a […]

Friday flowers lingering garden blooms

Happy Friday! I’m blogging in today with a collection of lingering blooms from our back garden. It’s so nice to step out and still be greeted by a sea of bright color this late in the season. All the rain we’re getting along with the mild temperatures, things just keep on blooming. This weekend is forecast to be a rainy blustery few days with hurricane Matthew looming to our South. I hope everyone down there stays safe! I painted the trim […]

cottage fix Friday flowers

Happy Friday Cottage Fix friends! Today’s bouquet is more special than most, accompanied you see by a champagne toast! Honey and I are celebrating our 21st wedding anniversary tomorrow. Yay! When I think back on the spring we first met and started dating, it feels like just yesterday, but somehow a dream. It was so many years ago that a handsome young musician followed me around a college campus wooing me with gifts of strawberry kiwi Snapple and inviting me […]

Friday flowers from the late summer garden

Hello there Cottage Fix friends from the Virginia coast with a tropical storm heading our way. Hermine is headed straight for the Florida pan handle, and then forecast to make its way up the east coast. Those 70s I was dreaming of are looking more and more like they’ll be accompanied by buckets and buckets of rain, rain, rain. I’m still holding out hope for the sunshine and cool air to blow in on Sunday, but it looks more like […]

Farmhouse style heirlooms and Friday flowers

Good summer morning to you Cottage Fix friends! It’s still feeling like summertime here near the Virginia coast, that I can say for sure. I’m dreading the forecast for tomorrow, a heat index of over 100 degrees. The only way to endure the outdoors in stifling heat like that is to be near the shore. But Mr. Manly and I have somewhat of a track record of participating in silly shenanigans, and I wouldn’t be at all surprised if a […]

cottage fix Friday Flowers from the garden

Happy Friday Cottage Fix friends! Well, it’s been another one of those weeks with never-ending clouds and rain here on the ol’ coast of VA. And rain is in our forecast for both days this upcoming weekend. Ah man, the weird thing is I’m actually getting used to it. I keep thinking this is what it must be like to live in Seattle, the rain just keeps on coming and the coffee just keeps on brewing. Once I’m settled into a […]

Friday flowers… roses from the garden

Yay Cottage Fix friends… it’s Friday! With all this rain the garden is lush green and full of blooms including these sweet pink roses. I popped a sprig into one of my “not so vintage” bottles. On the sun porch, it’s mostly whites with a touch of blue and a pop of pink. My quirky herb and vegetable patch is just on the other side of the windows. That’s where I keep an eye on things. Wink. The spinach, lettuce, […]

cottage fix Friday flowers from that more than fabulous day!

Happy Friday! Yes, I’m still carrying on about that more than fabulous day. I really just want to savor it, ya know. These are the beautiful flowers my sweet Honey brought me last week. It’s been a full week and they look even better than when he first gave them to me, that’s one of the great things about carnations. He cracks me up. He always is sure to get long stems, baby’s breath, and what he calls the “green filler”. […]
