Aubusson blue painted hutch

Salutations! How about this lovely shade of Aubusson blue, one of my favorite shades of blue I think. It’s a deep rich blue with just a hint of green. I went back and forth about painting this old vintage hutch of mine. But after I finished dousing the dining room walls in this soft taupe, I thought a shot of color would liven it up. One of my go to furniture painting tricks is to take my Annie Sloan chalk […]

decorating mojo… raspberry floral and taupe

Hola Cottage Fix friends!! Long time no see. Well, it’s about time I got back to it I think. It was a long winter for me with a relentless bout of family illnesses (just one after another) and snow (not a fan!). And then the illnesses trickled right on into Spring with Paisley our sweet Schnauzer pup. I’d like to forecast smooth sailing from here on out—fingers crossed. The past couple of days have been all sunshine, wellness, and good […]

welcoming 2018 with simplicity and color

Happy New Year Cottage Fix crew! After the holiday glitz and dazzle get packed away and carted up the attic stairs our cottage always looks so bare to me. The sparkle of twinkly lights and shine of vintage baubles are missed indeed. But even so, after the holidays I always find myself craving a clean fresh look. I”m digging this clean fresh look on our sun porch doused in sunshine and whites. I scored these classic linen favorites a while back from H&M. xoxo Sally

garden hydrangeas

Salutations and happy summer! Our summer garden is in full swing and the hydrangeas are blooming a variety of colors this year. From deep purple to classic blue, they are one of my favorite flowers, especially to cut and bring inside. I picked a couple of new blooms in lime green to add to this bouquet too. One was on it’s way to turning purple and the other blue. So I did some investigating about hydrangea color… Can you manipulate […]

happy cottage color

Hello there fine people of blogland! How are you? It’s been quite busy around here the past few weeks and I’m ready to get going on some decorating changes that I’ve been milling over. Let me tell you—if you want a wall color that will instantly improve your mood and put a smile on your face, paint it yellow! This is our guest room/game room, and every time I come in here I wonder why I didn’t paint my whole […]

coastal cottage whites ~ Spring tour

steady rain bright green grass flip flops warm breeze fancy beach sandwiches billowy clouds white linen I used light and airy whites this Spring along with soft floral patterns and ruffles to create a coastal cottage look. Creamy whites, crochet, and soft floral shabby chic pillows in the living room are fresh for the Spring season. They work for a cottage–y look any time of the year though. Paisley loves her floor pillows, I changed out the covers to […]
