a blue jeans kind of day

Hi there!  I’m just getting all set to take Miss Paisley for a trot on the nearby trail.  We haven’t made it there for sometime so we are both super excited this morning to get our derrieres back out there again!  We have had the most glorious weather the past few days; there’s nothing like a beautiful day to put me in a good mood. The autumn clematis is blooming all over town and I’m dreaming of a blue jean […]

it’s a chandelier fiasco

Salutations fine ladies of blogland!  I hope your decorating endeavors are working out much better for you than mine are for me.  You guys remember my sweet little roadside chandy from last week, don’t you?  The one I found while taking Miss Paisley on a stroll through our neighborhood.  Well, Mr. Handy was so sweet this past weekend and offered to hang it for me in the dining room. I was so happy with myself and this chandelier find, but […]

accessories and road kill

I’m sure you’ve been losing sleep wondering where those bright blue accessories from the sun porch have disappeared to — I know I have.  Painting the sun porch white has created sort of a ricochet effect throughout our little cottage and everything is all mixed up and turned around!  It happens! Well, there they are.  I decided to use the wicker chairs in the dining room all dolled up with the bright blue floral pillows. I mixed in a couple […]

cottage fix meets Paris on the sun porch

Hello cottage fix crew!  My summer projects are happily shuffling along.  I finally finished painting the sun porch white, well it’s more of a grayish white, I think.  I like to think of it as a Parisian white, is that a shade?  Anyway, I thought I’d go ahead and let you lovely ladies in on the little white sun porch with the little white painted bricks even though I’m not quite finished with the accessories and finishing touches.  If we […]

the fate of a blue and white tureen

A couple of weeks ago I heard a crash come from our living room, which isn’t necessarily an unfamiliar sound in our house.  Things break and I sweep them up and move on without making to big of a fuss.  Well, I turned the corner into the living room to ask “What broke?” and saw the lid to my treasured blue and white tureen in pieces. It looked ever so sad scattered about the hardwood floor. I won’t go pointing […]

adding texture with gathered pillow shams

We’ve been really busy lately with kids and our puppy and life and such.  And of course I’ve got a million and one projects up my sleeve, some of which I’ve started and some are on the back burner. I did finish painting the sun porch and will be sharing her white painted bricks with you soon. Mr. Macho is building a fire wood holder and indeed, his inner burly mountaineer has been unleashed — I think I even heard him […]

fresh lemon layer cake

Salutations!  I brought home some cute little lemons last week mostly for decoration for our kitchen table. I also wanted to make a lemony something or other out of them too, but I just wasn’t sure what. I whirled around some ideas in my head — lemon chicken or lemon pasta maybe — something on the healthy side.  But instead of something leaning towards the healthy side I went with a cake, a fresh lemon layer cake from scratch. The recipe is […]

please enjoy this garden bouquet while…

Salutation Cottage Fix Friends!  I’m in over my head here with Miss Myrtle and the sun porch so please enjoy this lovely garden bouquet while I’m knee deep in paint and brushes and this white swatch or that white swatch.  Please just imagine an eighties hit song of your choice arranged as elevator music while I get things together here.  I’ll be painting for today, or more realistically a couple days, or say it ain’t so – even longer.  Sob! Unfortunately […]
