yoga for fitness and an Aurorae give-away

Hola Cottage Fix friends! A few months back I mentioned that Mr. Macho and I started a wellness makeover—the muffin top and potbelly had gotten out of control I’m afraid. We began counting calories, drinking more water, walking more, and lifting weights at our local YMCA. I also started taking a few yoga and cardio classes, sometimes on my own and sometimes with friends. I must admit, it was much easier to start a new class knowing a buddy was going to be there with me for moral support.

It’s been a few months now and I’m happy to say we’re sticking with it—for the most part. We don’t really count calories anymore, but we changed our diet to include more protein and vegetables and less junk food. I still eat dessert some (most) nights, and I’m not planning on giving that up. And as far as exercising goes, we are both addicted. It just makes us feel better, and sleep better too.

I recently got the opportunity to tryout an Aurorae Impression Yoga Mat. My cheapo mat had been causing me issues with slipping and knee pain, so I was so excited to try something new.

I carted my snazzy new Aurorae mat to class last Friday with a new sense of enthusiasm. About half way through class I realized I hadn’t really been paying attention to how I was liking it. And that’s when I realized how great it was. I hadn’t noticed anything because I wasn’t having any problems with it. I wasn’t slipping, my knees weren’t hurting, and I was completely focused on my breathing and poses. It’s thicker than my old mat and has just the right amount of stickiness. What a difference a nice mat makes!

Although I’m only a few pounds lighter, my clothes are fitting better and the muffin top is on the way out. I swear I just woke up one morning and that thing was there…blump. How does that even happen? Well, I feel like I’m heading in the right direction now.

Way to go, Sally! Sticking with an exercise and healthy eating plan is not easy to do. My daughter and some friends love yoga! I haven’t been able to get into the “flow” of it…but I am also good at finding excuses where exercise is concerned (naughty Julie.)

You are so disciplined! I wish I was. I love yoga. That mat looks like a good one too. I think it would be a perfect gift for ME! Then, maybe it would inspire me to get back into doing more often.

My wellness tip would have to be drink lots of water. And………..stay motivated to keep up your exercise. Don’t be like me and do it for a few weeks and then stop. Ha Ha.
