Oh dear, the curtain saga, let me tell you – it is endless. At first I wanted shades, and then, naaa maybe drapes, nope that won’t work either. I thought about tone on tone stripes, but with the horizontal stripes of the shutters I thought it would look a bit busy. Agreed? This is the guest room window and though you may not be able to tell from the photo, it faces the street, and therefore requires something light in color. Perhaps I’ve watched one to many episodes of Curb Appeal, but for whatever reason this is etched into my brain. From the interior perspective I didn’t mind these windows left bare with only the shutters for privacy, but my honey does not like living in a “fish bowl.” Honey house rule #107 – no living in a “fish bowl,” fair enough. To add a little cottage curb appeal, I love the way light and airy curtains look. These are Simply Shabby Chic from Target and are about 20 bucks a pop. They make me smile. Something about the way they softly filter the light reminds me of carefree summer days. I can just see myself skipping through a sunny grass field. Jeez, I guess I’m asking a lot out of a pair of curtains!
